What you should know

• Self-employment (cuenta propia): the most popular residence route in Spain and the right one for anyone who wants to run their own business — a shop, workshop, restaurant, trade or consultancy. You must prove professional qualifications, a viable business plan and sufficient investment. Many immigration firms avoid offering this route because it is demanding and costly for them to prepare; we handle it.
• Entrepreneur route (innovative project): if your project has a technology component or a scalable model, this route is faster — a three-year initial permit instead of one, decided by the UGE. It requires a favourable ENISA report, which an ordinary shop or restaurant will not pass.
• Digital nomad: for remote workers with employers or clients outside Spain; roughly €2,849 a month with at least 80% of income from abroad. Its hidden advantage is that it opens the door to the 24% flat tax regime.
• Non-lucrative: no right to work; €28,800 a year for the main applicant plus €7,200 per dependent. One year, then 2 + 2.
• Student: under the 2025 regulation you may work up to 30 hours a week and stay 12 months after graduating to find work — a route most people underestimate.
